CAUTION: DO NOT HOLD THE NECK OF THE BOTTLE OR THE PLASTIC NEEDLE GUARD WHILE PUMPING! HOLD THE WINE LABEL ON THE BODY OF THE BOTTLE.

TIP: Holding the plastic needle guard will prevent the cork from popping out.

Why won’t the cork come out of the bottle?

The Genius Wine Opener “pops” most bottles open in about 3-5 pumps. However, we find some bottles need a little more air pressure to get the cork out, especially older and synthetic corks. If the cork has moved, but didn’t pop out, give it a few more pumps and repeat.

If the cork has not moved at all, the most common cause of this problem is the needle not penetrating the cork completely. This is generally because…

• The cork is unusually long.
• The needle is unable to penetrate the cork.
• The needle has not been inserted correctly.
• The needle was not inserted all the way through the cork.
• The needle was inserted at an angle instead of straight through the cork.

Why isn’t my Genius Wine Opener getting any pressure?

If you’re not feeling resistance when you push down on the handle while pumping, first ensure proper use by checking out the “How To” info

If there is still no resistance, it’s possible that the gasket has come loose or needs lubrication. This is a very quick & simple fix. You can watch our video demonstrating how to do this on YouTube by clicking here.
